After reading some reviews for the movie “LOVE” (also reviewed a few posts back) I found that many people recommended this film. I can also recall my dad seeing it in theatres two years ago while me and a friend saw blink-182 at the MTS Centre.

This movie, (like “LOVE”) is (or at least it was for me) quite confusing if you don’t look into it deeper. It’s a movie where you definitely have to think about what it is that you are seeing and watch it the whole way through all in one shot because there are a ton of referrals to past events in it all throughout. Moon puts a relatable human touch on an intriguing and deep sci-fi story that, while it originally appears to be taking the path of 2001 Space Odyssey, is a unique adventure. Sam Rockwell puts on a spellbinding performance and Kevin Spacey’s Gerty voice-over is eery and excellent. I have never seen a movie that had me so intrigued from beginning to end like this one, other than “LOVE”, although this one is a bit less confusing than “LOVE”. To be quite honest, after watching both films I’m wondering how many ideas were taken from this film and used in “LOVE”. At one point it seemed to me as though it was the exact same movie, given a bigger budget. Some may say the film starts slowly but I found the first thirty minutes to be an important and gripping portrayal of what it would mean to be alone in space which without, the movie would not have been as effective.

I found the acting in this film to be excellent. Sam Rockwell plays the main (and almost only) character very well and he does it better than Gunner Wright from “LOVE”. I found a really good explanation of this film on IMDB but it is quite long, so instead of posting it on here, I will give you the link below. Don’t read it until after watching the film though, because it does contain spoilers and I think part of the joy of the film for me was trying to figure out what was going on.
